AtlantisFX | The Financial Integrity Network (FIN), a Washington D.C. based think tank, has called on the US Congress to regulate cryptographic service providers under the Money Laundering Act.


Crypto providers to be regulated under the Money Laundering Act A summary of the statements that the VIN intends to make at a forthcoming parliamentary hearing on 3 September states that cryptographic service providers should be regulated depending on the service they offer, with the same rules as for similar financial service providers from other sectors should apply.


In this context, David Murray, vice president of FIN, points out that some crypto service providers are already being treated under the Money Laundering Act as they are classified as so-called "money transmitters", while other crypto service providers are not be regulated.
