AtlantisFX | Arizona State University works with local community colleges to improve the exchange of academic qualifications through the blockchain. The university news website Inside Higher Ed reported this on July 9.
Arizona State wants to use blockchain to determine if students moving from community colleges have already earned enough credits to earn an associate's degree. This is an intermediate qualification between a high school diploma and a full Bachelor.
Tracking credits in this process - also known as reverse transfer - is complex and time-consuming: in addition to the mere exchange of data, universities must interpret non-homogenous academic qualifications and determine whether they correspond to their own.
